Niko Partners researched and analyzed the video games market in China in 2021, and released an extensive report. Per this report, China’s domestic mobile + PC game revenue reached nearly 45.5bn and it’s expected to grow further in the upcoming years.

The report says the number of players in China was approximately 706 million, down by 3.7%, but by 2026, the number is expected to grow, nearing 730 million players. According to the report, China’s export mobile + PC game revenue was $17.3 billion in 2021, up 27.3% YoY, and is projected to reach $26.46bn in 2026.
One interesting detail that catches the eye is more than 16,000 metaverse-related trademarks have been filed in China. There’s also a growing number of investment events in 2021, double that of in 2020.
Niko Partners’ report projects the Chinese market to reach $55 billion in 2026, but of course, there are always unforeseen factors at play that can help the market grow or prevent the growth, and color the expected numbers in a different way.
