The video game maker and publisher Electronic Arts is replacing its decade-old gaming platform Origin with a new Windows application dubbed simply “EA app”. The gaming giant says the EA app is faster, more reliable, and offers a more streamlined gaming experience compared to Origin. The gaming entity also claims the EA app will improve gamers’ experience with all EA titles.

The EA app was in the open beta phase for a while and it’s now ready for consumers. EA app will soon replace Origin completely and become EA’s primary PC gaming platform. EA says the new app is also better optimized, both technically and for user experience. Considering how Origin is accepted as an outdated gaming platform by fans of EA, the new app will most likely be a welcome change.
An outstanding feature EA needs to stress more is allowing you to connect your EA account with other gaming platforms such as Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. You’ll be able to connect, track and communicate with all your friends from one single gaming platform.
EA also ensures all local and cloud saves as well as all the achievements and in-game stats will transfer forward and players can just pick up where they left off. Your existing Origin friend list should also transfer without any hiccups. You can safely switch to EA app while keeping the games you downloaded through Origin. They should automatically appear on EA app once you get it working.
One important side note; the EA app is only available for Windows users (as mentioned earlier in the title). MacOS players are stuck with Origin for the foreseeable future. You can download the EA app here.
