EA Sports shared post-launch metrics 23 days after the record-breaking launch. FIFA 23 recently broke records in its opening week with over 10.3 million players. The record belonged to FIFA 22 with 9.1 million downloads. Players from over 200 countries have over 15.7 billion playing minutes overall, roughly equivalent to 30,000 years of gameplay.

Metrics shared by EA Sports came in different categories, from top goal scorers to top-played stadiums in-game. In 23 days, 1.7 billion games have been played, and 4.3 billion goals were scored. Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford became the top goalscorer in Men’s football, and Chelsea’s Sam Kerr became the women’s leading goal scorer. Erling Haaland, the top goalscorer in all European leagues in real life, became 4th while Cristiano Ronaldo became 8th. Lionel Messi, arguably the greatest player ever, did not make the top 10 list.

When it comes to goal celebrations, “Griddy” has been the most used celebration to date, followed by classical “knee slide” celebration.

Nick Wlodyka, SVP, GM of EA SPORTS FC said “The successful launch of this year’s title has been very special for us, and we’re incredibly proud to connect the millions of fans across the globe that share the same passion for the world’s game.”

Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid became the most selected teams, while Jude Bellingham, Alexis Vega, and Jason Denayer were the top signed players in career mode.

FIFA 23’s new mode with Apple TV’s hit show starring Jason Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond (a fictional English football team) won 1 million games.
