Mojang unveils a new name and logo on its 11th birthday!

Last week, Mojang celebrated Minceraft’s eleventh birthday. Usually, the team eats block-shaped cake but this time they are doing a big change. The team revealed its new logo which you can see below. Also, Mojang’s new name is Mojang Studios.

Area F2 shuts down after Ubisoft’s lawsuit

On May 18, Ubisoft filed a lawsuit against Google and Apple for featuring Area F2, a game that Ubisoft called a ” near carbon copy” of Rainbow Six Siege. After a couple of days of this lawsuit, the team behind Area F2 announced that the game is shutting down. There were no mentions to the lawsuit but all fingers are pointing to it as the reason especially after the success it got.

Kwalee is expanding to Asia by opening a new studio in India!

One of the big news last week was about Kwalee’s new studio. On May 19, the mobile game developer and publisher announced that it will open a brand new studio in Bangalore, India. Right now, Kwalee employs more than seventy-five people in Leamington Spa and the studio will work closely with them. If you are interested, you can apply to work from Kwalee’s official website.

NetEase shared its Q1 2020 financial results

NetEase is undoubtedly one of the biggest publishers in the mobile games industry. Last week, the company shared its financial results for the first quarter of 2020 that ended on the 31st of March. Net revenues were RMB17.1 billion (US$2.4 billion), that’s an 18.3 increase compared to the same period last year. As expected, most of the revenue came from online games services. To be exact, online games revenue accounted for RMB13.5 billion (US$1.9 billion). 14.1 percent up compared with the first quarter of 2019.

GameRefinery releases a new interesting feature for the mobile games industry

GameRefinery, a mobile game insight and analytics specialist announced its new interesting feature. Its called “Player Motivations and Archetypes”. The new tool gives mobile game developers, investors, and marketers unparalleled insight into the different types of people that are playing mobile games. According to GameRefinery, Player Motivations and Archetypes feature will give developers a better understanding of their player base.

Mobile games industry event NG20 is starting this week, get your tickets now!

NG20, the online game conference will be between the 27-29th of May. It will offer 3 exciting days of exclusively streamed content, social events, competition.
