2021 was a very productive year for the Turkish gaming ecosystem. The number of Turkish game companies that received investment last year was relatively high. In particular, Dream Games attracted attention with its rise to Unicorn (company with a billion-dollar valuation) status after last year’s investments. Like last year, the first quarter of 2022 was also fruitful for the Turkish gaming ecosystem. In the first quarter of 2022, 9 Turkish Game studios received investment, and Dream Games became the game company that received the most investment.

The Turkish game industry received a total of $330 million in investments

The video game industry gets the most investments in Turkey. According to StartUp Centrum’s Q1 2022 report, the Turkish startup ecosystem received a total investment of $1.28 billion in the first quarter. The amount of investment falling to the share of domestic game companies is 330 million dollars. Here is the list of Turkish video game companies that received investment in 2022:

Dream Games ($255 million)

Dream Games was founded in 2019 by the experienced names of the game industry Soner Aydemir, İkbal Namlı, Hakan Sağlam, Eren Şengül and Serdar Yılmaz. The company, which started by producing puzzle-type games, grew rapidly and became a Turkish mobile game industry giant. Dream Games raised its valuation to $2.75 billion in January 2022, with an investment of $255 million.

Spyke Games ($55 million)

Spyke Games was founded in 2020. Working mainly on the casual game genre, the Istanbul-based Turkish game studio raised $55 million in January 2022 from a funding round led by Griffin Gaming Partners. The company’s last known valuation was approximately $245 million.

Metaverse Game Studios ($10 million)

Founded by Erkan Bayol, Metaverse Game Studios managed to attract the attention of investors with the blockchain-based Angelic game. The company raised $10 million in March 2022 from an investment round led by Pantera Capital, Animoca Brands, Solana Ventures, and Everyrealm.

Fomo Games ($5 million)

Founded by Yunus Güvenen, Emre Teksöz, and Yusuf Ceylan, Fomo Games became another game company that received consecutive investments in a short time. The company, which received an investment of 17 million TL in the first quarter of 2021, raised an additional 5 million dollars from the financing round led by Libertus Capital in January 2022.

Revel Games ($4.5 million)

Revel Games is a fairly new game studio founded in 2021. The company, which develops casual puzzle games, received an investment of 4.5 million dollars from the investment tour led by Garena in March 2022.

NDG Studio (3,125 million TL)

Founded in 2020 by Ufuk Serdar Demir and Emre Ertekin, NDG received an investment of 3,125 million TL from Boğaziçi Ventures and Mert Fırat in February 2022. The studio developed games in hyper-casual and casual genres and turned its post-investment focus to hyper-casual and NFT games.

Hyperlab Games

Hyperlab Games, founded by Abdurrahman Kurt, Berat Can, Halit Altuntaş, and Utku Bayat, former employees of Crytek, one of the largest game companies in Turkey, received a major investment and the Turkish company’s value has reached a valuation of 7,5 million dollars. Developing games in the hyper-casual genre, the company has also recently launched an internship program called Hyperboost.

Abrakadabra Games

Another game studio that received investment this year was Abrakadabra Games. Developing “playable videos,” the company received an investment from Zihni Holding in February 2022 and increased its valuation to $15 million. The exact amount of this investment was not disclosed.

Mixer Games

Mixer Games received an investment with a valuation of $ 1.6 million in the last days of the first quarter of 2022. WePlay Ventures and Diffusion Capital Partners led the pre-seed investment round. Mixer Games aims to develop next-generation games by approaching blockchain and play-to-earn games from its own perspective. The exact amount of the investment is unknown.
