Game Jolt, a frequented place for many players and content producers around the world, aiming to bring together game communities regardless of platform, is organizing a game jam called “Spoopy Jam” in collaboration with AWS Game Tech.
The main theme of Spoopy Jam, which will take place from October 29 to November 14, will be to develop multiplayer games that are both cute and spooky. Individual participants or developer teams will compete in the Spoopy Jam event to blend the creepy theme of Halloween with their own sense of humor to win and highlight their games.
In this event, which excites game developers, valuable prizes will be distributed. In addition to the cash prizes, Spoopy Jam will also highlight the top three games on Twitch, the world’s most popular and most watched game streaming platform. Accordingly, the prize pool is specified as follows:
- First Prize: $6,000 cash prize + Twitch.tv homepage feature + Pitch your game to publishers
- Second Prize: $3,000 cash prize + Twitch.tv homepage feature + Pitch your game to publishers
- Third Prize: $1,000 cash prize + Twitch.tv homepage feature + Pitch your game to publishers
As stated, the 3 winners will have the chance to play their own games and feature it on the homepage of Twitch.tv with a Twitch partner. The following week, they will have the opportunity to pitch their game to a panel of publishers and investors for additional funding. In addition, Game Jolt states that more prizes will be added to the prize pool in the upcoming weeks.
The multiplayer games you submit to the Spoopy Jam event must be developed between the dates specified by Game Jolt (October 29 – November 14), meaning you’ll only have 15 days to develop them. Existing tools, game engines, assets, and sound elements are free to use, but you must have a valid permit or license to use them. One of the most important points in the terms of participation is that the IP of the games must be unique. You cannot submit a fan project under popular IPs. You can access the content covering all the participation conditions and rules of the Spoopy Jam event via this link.
In addition, AWS Game Tech, the main sponsor of the event and Game Jolt partner, has released its new project called “Amazon GameLift Plug-in for Unity” to game developers. The event will also feature an informative webinar on the Amazon GameLift Plug-in for Unity, designed to facilitate the distribution of multiplayer games.
