Gearbox Entertainment announced that Eidos Shanghai is now Gearbox Shanghai. This is Gearbox’s first expansion into Asia, which is an important market in the company’s long-term growth strategy. Gigi Ning, who was the lead of Eidos Shanghai will continue to lead the studio as General Manager.

Yoon Im, President of Gearbox Publishing San Francisco commented,

With this addition, we greatly enhance our ability to engage with players in the Chinese market and work directly with local up-and-coming development studios.”
Eidos Shanghai was previously Eidos-Montreal’s studio, whose parent group is CDE Entertainment. CDE Entertainment is one of the twelve direct subsidiaries of Embracer Group, it was acquired by the group along with Square Enix Montreal and Crystal Dynamics in a $300 million deal.
Embracer Group acquired The Gearbox Entertainment Company, including Gearbox Software in February 2021, for a price of $1.3 billion.
