The Swiss hardware manufacturer Logitech joined forces with Chinese tech and gaming giant Tencent to create a new handheld gaming device that will support multiple cloud gaming services.

The duo is working with Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia’s GeForce Now to cover more ground and provide gamers access to as many games as possible. The two gaming giants said in an official announcement that their goal is to launch the cloud gaming handheld to market later this year.
Tencent’s expertise in software services will be combined with Logitech G’s gaming hardware prowess to create this unnamed handheld console. The duo believes they can deliver a seamless experience to gamers and help them enjoy their games when they’re away from their consoles or PC.
The console will be a dedicated cloud device, meaning there will be no need to download or install games on it; players will simply stream video games to the device.
Daniel Wu, general manager of Tencent Games Smart Solution Innovation Lab said :
“Logitech G’s leadership in PC and console gaming gear makes them an ideal partner to help us realize the vision of bringing a better gaming experience to gamers around the globe. Today marks the start of a new opportunity for our companies to further push the frontiers of gaming devices.”
Ujesh Desai, general manager of Logitech G also shared his thoughts on this new partnership with the following words:

As someone that grew up playing video games, the idea of being able to stream and play AAA games almost anywhere is super exciting, and we can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on.”
This isn’t the first time Tencent has shown interest in gaming hardware; the China-based technology giant is rumored to enter the hardware space with an extended reality unit as well.
