Once a PlayStation exclusive, Marvel’s Spider-Man found its way to PC via Steam and Epic Games on August 12, and so far the game is doing quite well in regards to concurrent player numbers, but not good enough to take the top spot from God of War.
Spider-Man remastered saw an all-time peak on Steam with 66,436 concurrent players and became the second biggest launch on Steam for PlayStation Games on PC. While this was enough to pass Horizon Zero Dawn (56,557) and Days Gone (27,450), Kratos and Atreus’ father-son adventure reached an all-time peak with 73,529 players, taking the top spot for Sony.
According to Sony, God of War and other PC releases performed well, and with the acquisition of Bungie, the gaming giant expects to earn $300 million from PC games before the year closes. Spider-Man’s numbers seem satisfying so far and there’s still Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection coming to PC later this year.

While Sony is quite happy with how its exclusives are doing on PC, the Big Tech firm is quite worried about its rival, Microsoft, acquiring the Call of Duty franchise (provided the deal passes of course) via the purchase of Activision Blizzard for a hefty $68.7 billion. Meanwhile, Microsoft claimed Sony is paying other developers to block content off Xbox Game Pass.
