Relatively new game development studio Trailblazer has announced raising $8.2 million to develop its Web3-based fantasy universe. Trailblazer’s team includes experienced names from companies such as EA, King, and Microsoft.

The Makers Fund led the funding round. Investor companies such as Play Ventures and Fabric Ventures also took their place in the round. Trailblazer’s veteran founders have extensive experience developing “large-scale” free-to-play games. Now they will use this experience to develop a Web3 fantasy world.

The studio is currently developing a fantasy-themed title, Eternal Dragons. To accelerate the title’s development in question, the company hired people with experience at companies such as Sorare, Wooga, and Snowprint.

Trailblazer CEO and Co-Founder Alex Arias said:

“We are on a mission to make games more fun and meaningful for our community by designing and producing high-quality games that natively embrace Web3 principles and technology. Through raising this round with our partners, we can put more investments towards building our first franchise and the technology stack needed to deliver a seamless player and blockchain investor experience. This way, our players can become entrepreneurs in a new world full of opportunity – to play and prosper.”

Fantasy games and universes have their own set of players. Aware of this potential, the company seems to want to seize this opportunity by using the power of Web3.
