Koch Media changes its name to Plaion

The German-Austrian media company Koch Media rebranded itself as Plaion today and according to company CEO Klemens Kundratitz, the name and logo change is a statement of what they promise to deliver to their customers.

The company’s new logo is a green triangle that looks like a play button, hence the wordplay “Plaion” (pronounced as “Play on”). The company was acquired by Embracer Group back in 2018 and it also houses video game developers/publishers such as Deep Silver, Prime Matter, Warhorse Studios and Milestone.

Kundratitz released a statement about the name change and pointed out the fact that the firm’s growth has accelerated and they have become “increasingly diversified”. The experienced businessman said the rebranding was done to reflect the evolving nature of the company’s business, both content-wise, and geography-wise.

Kundratitz added the following comments:

“As we continue our expansion across the globe, we have chosen our new name to better portray who we are and the journey we are taking.

“Our new name offers us the opportunity to build on our rich history as a publishing partner and our outstanding, constantly growing network of world-class development studios and creative people, to keep delivering premium service to our partners, to highlight our ambition as a global player within the entertainment industry but also to reinvent ourselves.

“Our vision is to enable and inspire our worldwide teams and partners, unlocking their full potential.”

The CEO and co-founder of now named Plaion said the industry is quite dynamic and expectations of their partners and players alike are evolving continuously. He finished the statement with the comments below:

“As PLAION, we’re building on our years of success while striving for more, much more. PLAION is a promise to deliver outstanding entertainment to our customers. I’m happy and proud to continue our journey as PLAION.”

Koch Media was founded back in 1994 and has been growing across the entertainment branches. The firm most recently acquired marketing and live event company Splatter (United Kingdom). It also acquired video game companies Digixart (France), and Flying Wild Hog (Poland).
