Mobile Premier League (MPL) is an India-based esports platform operating in the US and Indonesia. Making plans for global expansion, MPL will now expand its operations in Europe with the new acquisition.

It was not disclosed how much MPL acquired GameDuell. After the acquisition, GameDuell’s staff did not decrease, and the whole team joined the Mobile Premier League team. Sai Srinivas, co-founder and CEO of MPL said:

“We are excited to expand our operations to Europe after having successfully ventured into Indonesia and the US. We believe our collaboration with GameDuell will give us the right strategic support and expertise to take this new journey forward and help us continue to offer exemplary gaming experience for both India and the world.”

GameDuell was founded in 2003 and is one of the experienced studios with almost 20 years of industry history. The European studio has more than 40 translated casual games published in seven languages in its portfolio. In addition to digital games, the company also has an important place in the industry in terms of card and board games.

GameDuell CEO Kai Bolik said:

“We are thrilled to embark on this new journey with MPL and believe the complementary strengths between both teams will enable us to grow our GameDuell games communities even bigger across the world. Given GameDuell’s expertise and experience in the segment coupled with MPL’s global distribution and ambitious vision, we look forward to further building our vision of bringing people together to have a good time with games on a global scale.”

This move by MPL towards Europe also signals its interest in free-to-play mobile games. Currently active in two continents, MPL wants to offer its users a wider and richer esports and gaming experience. For GameDuell, this acquisition means that the games in the company’s portfolio can reach wider audiences through MPL.
