Netmarble, the leading game developer known for titles such as Seven Knights and Marvel: Future Fight, has 632 billion KRW ($524.2 million) revenue for the first quarter of 2022 and 46 billion KRW ($37.9 million) EBITDA reported. Overseas sales accounted for 84% of total sales, with KRW 529.4 billion ($439.5 million).
Netmarble CEO Kwon Young-sik gave the following words in his speech:
“The continued growth in overseas revenue helped to offset delays in our development schedule this quarter, combined with the strides we’re making in developing our IP into new games.
As we look to strengthen our business and overall position in the global gaming market, our focus moving into Q2 will be the continued development of our blockchain and metaverse sectors, along with a range of exciting mobile and PC titles launching in Q2 and beyond, including Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds, Golden Bros, Disney Mirrorverse, and Champions Ascension, among many more.”
While 49% of the revenue comes from North America, this number is followed by Korea (16%), Europe (12%), Southeast Asia (10%), and other regions (5%). The genre order of the games that generate this income is as follows:
- Casual – 48%
- RPG – 21%
- MMORPG – 19%
- Others – 12%
In addition, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, an MMORPG game, decreased the revenue ratio of the genre by 7% QoQ due to the decrease in sales.
