Nvidia is a company that produces infrastructure technologies, especially graphics. The company, which is world-renowned for its graphics hardware, is also a pioneer in software. Nvidia has frequently been mentioned in both the business and gaming worlds thanks to its realistic graphics production.
What is Nvidia Omniverse?
Omniverse is a platform developed by Nvidia for rendering real-time graphics. Thanks to real-time graphics processing technology, it is used to reach the most realistic visuals. The Omniverse platform is used in the game industry and fields such as cinema, architecture, and construction. At the same time, Nvidia describes the platform as “a metaverse for engineers.”
Nvidia Omniverse allows designers to work together simultaneously. This feature provides great convenience for people who need to work together on graphics. Having the opportunity to work on the same project at the same time, designers can quickly solve many problems and save time. In addition to Nvidia technologies, the Omniverse platform also supports technologies such as Pixar’s Universal Scene Description and Epic Games’ Unreal Engine.

With Omniverse, the doors to creating interconnected virtual worlds are opened as we see in movies and books. With its collaboration opportunities and powerful technology, Omniverse has prepared the infrastructure for this business.
Nvidia’s Omniverse is now open to millions of designers and developers
Omniverse was first released into early access in 2020 by Nvidia. At this date, its platform was only available to customers who purchased Nvidia’s RTX Server configuration. At the CES 2022 tech show in Las Vegas, Nvidia announced the free version of the Omniverse available to millions of designers and engineers. With the transition to the full version, more people will now benefit from the platform.
Millions of dollars have been invested in Omniverse by Nvidia to this day. Richard Kerris, VP of the Omniverse platform, said the platform includes technologies that Nvidia has been producing for 20 years.
Richard Kerris said the following about the free version of the platform:
“We look at it as the same context as an operating system. A rising tide lifts all boats. There will be many avenues for commerce in these virtual worlds. We think there is an entire economy coming for these virtual worlds. The more we can make it available, the better all of us can benefit.”
Omniverse has been downloaded and used by over 100,000 users since its early access release. With the arrival of the free version, it is possible to predict that the number of users will increase tremendously.
