Rovio has released Angry Birds Journey, the newest game in the Angry Birds series. The casual game has been updated and modernized compared to the original version released 12 years ago.
This is the first game to use the slingshot genre in seven years since other genres became popular and widespread. The official release came more than a year after the game went into the soft launch.
Rovio CEO Alex Pelletier-Normand made the following comments about the game;
“The love for the original slingshot game is still strong 12 years later. Today, with the global launch of Angry Birds Journey, we are pleased to bring players a brand new Angry Birds experience that puts the slingshot at the center. Although very different from the classic games with its updated and fluid gameplay, Angry Birds Journey is filled with the same satisfying gameplay and the same iconic characters that have defined Angry Birds games over the years.”
“Early bird” players (those who download Angry Birds Journey from the App Store or Google Play Store in its first week) will receive some useful in-game items.
Pelletier-Normand continued his words as follows;
“We believe players who are longtime Angry Birds fans will find something to love in Angry Birds Journey, but it’s also more accessible, making it a great entry point for those who have never experienced classic slingshot games.”
