UK Government and games industry unite against COVID-19

UK’s leading games industry companies are teaming up with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport against COVID-19. This collaboration is to support the government’s clear ‘Stay At Home, Save Lives’ instruction in the most popular games. It aims to slow down the spread of coronavirus. Everyone’s action right now has a direct impact on the lives of others. According to UKIE, young people spend more time playing video games than the rest of the population.

Games industry leaders are helping the government

There’s a lot of leading video game companies on board with the UK government. Such as Activision Blizzard King, Rebellion, and Codemasters. Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden said the following in a press release:

It is absolutely vital that we all follow the simple government advice to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives. I’m delighted to see the UK’s brilliant video games industry stepping up to strongly reinforce this message to gamers across the UK.

King is inserting “Stay At Home” messages in their portfolio of games like Candy Crush Saga. Also, King donated more  than 230 “digital poster” advertising spaces in London, where they would normally advertise their own products.

Games IndustryHumam Sakhnini, President of King  said the following in the same press release:

Everyone at Activision Blizzard, and the King team I lead, are delighted that we’re able to play a small part and help with the delivery of vital public health information. Through our millions of players we’re able to assist Public Health England and the NHS spread their life saving message: stay at home, protect our NHS, and save lives.

Publishers worldwide are helping in the fight too!

World-leading mobile developers and publishers also teamed up to fight against coronavirus. Companies like Miniclip, Kwalee, MAG Interactive, Popcore, and more donated a portion of their advertising inventory to charities. We at Mobidictum thank everyone who is helping in this crisis.
