Sky Mavis, the creator of Axie Infinity, has announced the launch of Ronin blockchain’s upgrade to Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) and unveiled the first four game studios to build and launch games on Ronin. These game studios are Directive Games, Tribes, Bali Games, and Bowled.io. DPoS marks the next step towards decentralization for Ronin, allowing anyone with a minimum of 250.000 RON to become a validator and participate in block production. RON staking opened on March 30th, with rewards starting on 12 April.
Selected partner studios can access Axie IP for their titles or build new games with distinct IPs on top of Ronin. The first game studios to build on Ronin include Directive Games, which aims to create large, immersive, competitive multiplayer games, and Tribes Studio, which will launch community-led gaming with their IP Tribesters; Bali Games, which is leveraging its extensive mobile game experience to create Axie-inspired puzzle games, and Bowled.io which is a sports-based social gaming platform.
Sky Mavis is building on the success of Axie Infinity to create an ecosystem that introduces the benefits of Web3 through immersive gaming experiences. With the upgrade to DPoS, the company is ready to open up its infrastructure and technology to the broader Web3 world, providing a path towards creating gaming that is community-centric, more rewarding, and above all, more fun.
Trung Nguyen, CEO and Co-founder of Sky Mavis, stated that he was excited to welcome Directive Games, Bali Games, Tribes, and Bowled.io to Ronin. Sky Mavis is on a mission to create digital property rights for all internet users, starting with gamers. The company has raised funding from investors, including Andreessen.
