Virtuos has reached an agreement with the founders of Abstraction Games to complete a friendly, founder-led buyout that will see the Dutch studio return to independent ownership, effective January 1, 2026.
The companies said the transition reflects a shared view that Abstraction is best positioned to move forward with the flexibility of founder-led ownership, while Virtuos sharpens its focus on its strategic priorities for 2026. Virtuos and Abstraction will continue working together as commercial partners.
“Abstraction is a talented team, and we are pleased to have reached an outcome that supports a constructive path forward for everyone.
This transition provides clarity as we move into 2026.”
Virtuos CEO Gilles Langourieux
“Returning to independent ownership gives us the autonomy and agility to guide Abstraction’s next chapter, while retaining a commercial partnership with Virtuos.”
Abstraction Games CEO Ralph Egas
