Pre-built environment kits are often treated as “just prototyping tools,” but Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 offers a clear example of how much leverage they can provide in the earliest stages of production.
Leartes Studios, an Istanbul, Türkiye-based game art outsourcing studio and asset marketplace operator, recently highlighted that Sandfall Interactive used its Steampunk–Victorian Environment Megapack during the early prototyping phase of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Sandfall’s Art Director Nicholas Maxson-Francombe described how the pack helped the team establish an initial direction for its first “Victorian city” build:
“Using that pack really laid us a strong foundation to create our first Victorian city. We loved the intricate designs and shapes.”

Why ready-made environment packs matter (especially early on)
In pre-production, studios need to answer big questions quickly: What does this world feel like? How dense is the city? What’s the silhouette language? How does the player move through spaces? A pre-prepared kit can compress weeks of setup into days by giving the team something they can block out, light, test, and iterate on immediately.
Leartes’ pack is positioned as a modular set for exactly this type of rapid worldbuilding, listing 345 unique meshes, modular building assets, decals, and blueprint-style prefabs intended to speed up assembly of a complete steampunk/Victorian environment.
The Steampunk – Victorian Environment Megapack is available on Cosmos for Unreal Engine & Unity, and on FAB for Unreal Engine!
