According to multiple credible rumors, EA Games is actively looking for a potential buyer, and the tech giant Apple is one of the major parties who’re interested. The rumors also suggest NBC, Disney, and Amazon are among others who’re interested in buying the video games publisher.

Puck is the main source for the rumors, and per their article, EA (Electronic Arts) actually prefers a merger where they can keep the current CEO Andrew Wilson in charge. Apple hasn’t commented on the rumors.

EA spokesperson John Roseburd said EA won’t respond to rumors and speculations in regards to this specific topic, but added:

“We are proud to be operating from a position of strength and growth, with a portfolio of amazing games, built around powerful IP, made by incredibly talented teams, and a network of more than half a billion players. We see a very bright future ahead.”

Going by the rumors, a merger of Apple and EA would be an odd mix, given how the latter would want to keep Wilson in charge of the whole operation, but it’s highly unlikely for Tim Cook to step down.

EA Games develop and publish lots of heavy hitters in the video games market, some of them being Apex Legends, The Sims, Madden series, and FIFA, but the title is due a name change come next year, due to EA and FIFA’s almost 30-year long partnership coming to an end.

If the deal were to happen, both parties could strongly benefit from it. Just today, Take-Two officially acquired Zynga and both companies strongly believe the future is brighter with their joint forces.
