Clash of Clans officials, due to technical reasons beyond their control, are ending support for all Apple and Android devices running OS versions lower than iOS 11 and Android 5.0 respectively, in the next update of Clash of Clans (expected this year). They stated that they had to make this decision to serve a better gaming experience to their audience.
In an article they published on their blog, Supercell confirmed that devices running below Android 5.0 or iOS 11 will no longer be able to download and play the game. Supercell advised fans to upgrade their smartphones or buy a new device as soon as possible.
Players running an operating system lower than iOS 11 or Android 5.0 will not be able to access Clash of Clans from the next update unless they upgrade to a higher version.
Making these warnings, Supercell suggested that players link their account to a Supercell ID and secure their village. If you don’t link your village to a Supercell ID, you’ll probably have to start from scratch whenever you want to switch to a new device.
When will the next update come?
It is not clear when exactly this update will be released, but the article states that it will be out by the end of the year. If we look at the update dates of previous years, we think the next update will be the Christmas update coming in December. To continue playing Clash of Clans, we recommend updating until mid-December.
