Diversion, a Y Combinator-backed startup, has announced a total of $12 million in funding, including a recent $4.5 million Seed+ round led by Konvoy. The company aims to modernize version control systems for game development, 3D modeling, and visual effects (VFX).
Addressing the Limitations of Traditional Version Control
Traditional version control systems like Git and Perforce have long been the industry standard. However, they often struggle with large binary files and complex workflows common in game development and creative projects. Diversion addresses these challenges by offering a cloud-native, scalable, and user-friendly platform designed specifically for creative teams.
The platform supports real-time collaboration, automatic conflict prevention, and seamless integration with tools like Unreal Engine. Its intuitive interface allows both developers and artists to work concurrently without the typical friction associated with legacy systems.
“This raise highlights the incredible work of our engineering team in building a new kind of version control system—purpose-built for large-scale game development and creative industries. Our users love Diversion, and their feedback continues to shape our roadmap.
With this new funding, we’ll keep investing in the user experience, improving workflows, and expanding the ecosystem to make Diversion the go-to platform for creative

Rapid Adoption and Global Expansion Plans
Since its inception, Diversion has attracted over 15,000 users, with a reported 20% monthly growth rate. The company plans to expand its presence in key markets, including the United States, Europe, Latin America, and Japan.
“We’re incredibly excited for the future of game development with Diversion. Version control has been a source of pain for many developers with large 3D assets and existing offerings are inadequate for their needs.
Sasha, Egal, and the team are bringing an elegant and fundamentally better solution to market for developers and artists.
We are thrilled to be supporting them alongside New Era, YC, and others as they continue to build for game developers and creative industries at large.”
