Embracer Group has agreed to sell publisher Arc Games and developer Cryptic Studios in a deal valued at $30 million (SEK 287 million) to a new entity, Project Golden Arc, Inc. The buyer is led by Arc Games management and financed by Chinese publisher XD Inc.
The divestment is part of Embracer’s strategic efforts to streamline its portfolio, shed non-core assets, and boost overall profitability.
Key Retained Games:
While selling the studios, Embracer is retaining the rights to two significant game properties, effectively moving them to different parts of the company:
- Remnant Franchise: The publishing rights for the successful Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant II are being transferred internally to the THQ Nordic operating group, which already owns the IP and developer, Gunfire Games. Arc Games will remain listed as a co-publisher.
- Fellowship: The rights for the new multiplayer online game Fellowship, developed by Chief Rebel, will be moved to the Coffee Stain Group. This move is timed for Coffee Stain’s upcoming spin-off and listing on the Nasdaq First North Premier Growth Market, planned for December 11, 2025. Arc Games will also remain a co-publisher of this title.
“This transaction supports our key priorities by strengthening our focus on strategic assets and core IPs in Embracer while improving profitability and free cash flow.
The deal also allows online multiplayer game Fellowship, developed by a talented external team in Stockholm, to find a great home within Coffee Stain Group.
I would like to thank the teams at Arc and Cryptic for their hard work over the past four years and wish them all the best, as we are confident they will thrive and develop in the years ahead.”
Phil Rogers, CEO of Embracer

The transaction is expected to close once standard conditions are met.
