Yesterday was a hectic day for Rockstar as dozens of gameplay videos leaked online after a hacker managed to pull data from Rockstar’s internal Slack channels. The hacker said they’re open to negotiating a deal with Rockstar or the game maker’s parent company Take-Two Interactive.

The gameplay footage that leaked online seems to be legit; it’s quite detailed and has the essentials of what makes a Grand Theft Auto title. Mobidictum went over the leaked gameplay footage and came to the conclusion that it’s hardly unlikely to be a hoax. The hacker calls themselves “Teapotuberhacker” and says they want money from the gaming entity, or else they’ll continue to release more internal footage that may harm the game’s future.
The leaked footage shows two main characters, a male and a female couple in a modern Bonnie And Clyde setting, however, considering how GTA games are quite “pew pew” and “bang bang” style, Natural Born Killers maybe a better callout behind the couple’s inspiration. The leaked videos don’t tell much about them and the leaked build seems to be from 2021, at least most of the footage seems to be dated from the year before.
Rockstar said they’ve been working on Grand Theft Auto 6 for a while but the game isn’t anywhere ready to be published and isn’t expected to release before 2024, but of course, fans can hope.
The leaks also confirm (well, kind of) Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier’s reports from earlier. Schreier said the new GTA title will take place in this universe’s Miami, meaning Vice City, where players once controlled Tommy Vercetti and became the city’s number one mobster.
