There’s a new open-world survival game in town and this time you’re to survive a world devastated by global warming. The game’s title is Ashfall and it’s being developed by a new studio called Liithos.
Liithos is created by two PlayStation veterans, Michael Mumbauer who’s an ex-PlayStation studio head and has his name on some of the most popular PlayStation titles such as Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, The Last of Us and Part II, Marvel’s Spider-Man, God of War and the list goes ever on. He’s the CEO of the company.
The other partner is John Garvin, and he’s got an astonishing career too. The industry veteran stands out as the creative director of Days Gone, a zombie survival game that initially launched on PS4 and made its way to PS5 and PC. He worked at Sony for over two decades and now will write and direct Ashfall.
The duo created a team just as experienced and talented as they’re to bring Ashfall to PC, consoles, and Web3.
Mumbauer spoke to Gamesbeat and said the following about what Liithos aims to create:
“At Liithos, we want to deliver the next evolution of triple-A gaming to the masses in connected ways that have never been experienced before. The game industry is amazing in that it has evolved through a series of innovations, never going backward. We look forward to continuing that trend, working with partners like the HBAR Foundation in support of the Hedera network, who understand the potential and need for innovation without any harmful impact to the environment.”
Ashfall will take place in Seattle, but in an alternative universe, in which the world is ravaged by global warming. The game’s story will begin with a digital comic and then the game will pick it up afterward.
