Twitter has released a report on how games affected tweet traffic in 2021. According to the data, in 2021, tweets in the ‘games’ topic reached the highest number, with more than 2 billion tweets. Genshin Impact has become one of the most talked-about topics on Twitter.
According to the report, Twitter’s gaming thread coverage increased by 14% compared to 2020. 2.4 billion tweets are roughly ten times the number of tweets in 2017. Rishi Chadha, Head of Gaming Content at Twitter, wrote in a blog post:
“The gaming community around the world has returned to the scene of face-to-face esports events. Publishers have released new games like Halo Infinite, and media outlets have expanded the scope of the space. NFTs have become a hot topic. People from all over the world came to Twitter to talk about this.”
