Game development accelerator Code Coven has announced that it has partnered with Facebook Gaming for the second year of the Game Developer Program. Talented people who want to develop games within Code Coven’s program framework are supported, and successful ones are rewarded.
The partnership aims to strengthen Code Coven’s mentoring and financial support to successful developers. Facebook Gaming will contribute to the awards given under the Game Developer Program.
The Game Developer Program, organized in partnership with Code Coven and Facebook Gaming, will take place between 13 June – 22 August. Applications for the program, which start from the concept determination stage to the game’s completion, have already been opened.
Throughout the Game Developer Program with Code Coven and Facebook Gaming, participants will:
- Empower and support four teams to build mobile games that they are proud of.
- Learn meaningful skills and strategies for game development with a focus on empathetic, ethical, and cooperative perspectives.
- Develop a toolbox of resources, community, and professional network.
- Develop know-how for navigating job applications, demoing, and speaking at conferences, starting their studios, or seeking funding for projects.
- Be inspired to continue to be leaders and/or dedicated to bettering their communities and workplaces.
Tara Mustapha, Founder, and CEO of Code Coven, said:
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Facebook Gaming for the second time. The course enables those from marginalized communities to enter and be embraced within the game industry. The continued commitment from Facebook Gaming is invaluable to ensuring greater impact and change. We look forward to supporting our new set of cohorts to learn from some of the best and brightest in the industry.”
Code Coven wants to highlight talented but underrepresented groups with this program. Thanks to the previous accelerator program organized by the organization, many developers developed and published their own games or were hired by sponsor companies. Since the inception of Code Coven, the team has supported more than 450 marginal game developers from 35 countries.
