The Israeli video game startup Edge Gaming rebranded as Ludeo. The gaming entity is known for its “playables”, which are basically playable standalone video game moments. Alongside the company name, the startup also rebranded “playables” to “Ludeos”.

In order to create a Ludeo (formerly known as playable), a game must have Ludeo’s SDK integrated into it. The Israeli startup claims this SDK causes no impact on the gaming experience and allows people to capture video game moments with one click and instantly turn it into playable moments.
The news of the rebranding directly comes from Ludeo’s Co-Founder and CEO, Asaf Gazit. The experienced businessman shared the news on his LinkedIn account with the following message:
“For the past decades, video (derived from videre in Latin – ‘to watch’) and audio (derived from audire in Latin – ‘to hear’) have played a major role in the #entertainment and #media industries, giving us a platform for expressing ourselves and sharing our best experiences with others. We believe that today marks the beginning of a new content era – the #Ludeo (derived from ludere in Latin – ‘to play’)”
Ludeo secured $30 million in a Series A funding round back in early July, and the company is using this investment to further improve its SDK and support more games. Prior to that, Ludeo raised $2 million in a pre-seed round in August 2021 and secured another $10 million in a seed round. The Israeli gaming startup raised a little over $42 million in total so far.
Interestingly enough, the end of September and early to mid-October has seen a total of five gaming studios rebrand themselves. Homa Games also rebranded as Homa just last week.
