New startup studio Methodical Games has announced $15 million raised in a funding round. The brand-new gaming entity has set its goals on having “A lean talented team, direct cross-discipline collaboration, quick iteration, and developer-driven processes.”
The current team is comprised of a band of veterans with experience in game industry giants such as Epic Games, Respawn Entertainment, and Infinity Ward. Co-Founder, CEO and Game Director of Methodical, Francesco Gigliotti, previously worked at Epic to build Fortnite. He was also a Co-Founder at Infinity Ward.
Lightspeed Ventures-led round saw investments from Bitkraft Ventures, 1Up Ventures, and Transcend Fund. Infinity Ward and Respawn Entertainment founder Jason West and some angel investors also contributed.
Gigliotti made comments about the experienced team behind Methodical Games:
“We’ve all worked together in different parts of our careers for a considerable amount of time. Everyone is coming from Epic Games, Respawn Entertainment, and Infinity Ward. I have a history of working on Call of Duty. I was one of the founding members at Infinity Ward.”
The team describes itself as having “A detail-oriented approach to game development with a focus on meticulously crafted gameplay.” With this goal and the funding out of the way, the studio will focus on making a multiplayer action-adventure title. The title is planned to have close combat features and a fantastic setting.
Adam Bellefeuil, Design Director and Co-Founder at Methodical, previously worked in Epic Games for 15 years. The third Co-Founder and the Technical Director of the studio, Dave Ratti, is also from Epic with ten years of experience on titles such as Fortnite, Doom, and Rage.
