The Game Development World Championship (GDWC) is currently accepting game submissions for the 2023 Summer Season. The competition is free and open to everyone interested in game development, regardless of their status as a hobbyist, student, or professional. The championship aims to highlight and showcase the participating games throughout the championship, with winners earning prizes provided by sponsors and partners.
The GDWC has had over 25,000 developers participate from 145 different countries over its 10-year history, and over $500,000 worth of prizes and giveaways have been awarded.
The GDWC is split into multiple awards, and all submitted games are automatically up for consideration in each of them. The awards are the Indie Award, Studio Award, Hobby Award, Mobile Award, Made-with-Houdini Award, GCORE Cloud Award, Best Web3 Game, VR & AR Award, and Action Award. Commercial and non-commercial games on any platform can participate, and winners will get a trip to Finland and visits to Finnish game studios for one team representative.
GDWC will also wrap up 2022 event with an anticipated awards show on April 22nd 2023, Tallinn Estonia. GDWC 2022 Awards Show tickets are available for those who want to attend the show in person and will be available online in GDWC YouTube channel.
The current season, GDWC 2023 Summer Season, will close for submissions on May 31, 2023, at midnight Finnish time. Winners will be announced in early July 2023. More details are available on the GDWC website.
