Mobile games have become incredibly popular and this trend looks set to continue for a long time. Google Play added the most games ever in a single quarter, with more than 50,000 games.
123scommesse provided us with five years of data showing how popular mobile games are in the Google Play store. Since 2015, mobile gaming has seen incredible growth on the platform, with more than 675,000 games in the store near the beginning of 2018.
2018 witnessed a mass purge of mobile game apps on Google Play and by the end of the year, there were less than 300,000 game apps on the platform. The mobile game started to trend upwards again in the first months of 2019.
Since then, the number has increased steadily, seeing the highest number in the first quarter of 2021. More than 50,000 game apps were added this quarter, the largest increase ever in a single quarter.
Games make up over 13% of all apps on the platform, with educational apps second at just over 9%. Mobile games have strengthened their position in the industry as a large part of the mobile application field, and the Google Play store has a large share in this.
