Hero Concept‘s critically acclaimed beat ’em up game Mayhem Brawler —won four Crystal Pixels, including the video game of the year— is getting a sequel.
Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds “will follow its ancestor’s footsteps, will be heavily inspired by the 90s, but will leave its own mark on the beat em’ up genre.” says Serkan Özay, the co-founder and & creative director of Hero Concept.
Serkan Özay’s extensive —and quite interesting if we may add— interview about the upcoming Mayhem Brawlers II is available on Brawler’s Alley, a magazine dedicated to this genre.
Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds will be both a prequel and a sequel says Özay, adding the following:
“The new adventure will cover the events that developed in parallel in two different timelines, 20 years apart.
“The “Present” will focus on the story of Christina “She Wolf” Vasquez, while the “Past” will focus on Megan “Stellar” Gardner. (Yes, the mother of Grace “Star” Gardner from the first game, the legendary Stronghold officer who gives her life away while defending Mayhem City).
There will be 8 playable characters in total, divided into two groups of 4 in accordance with the timeline they exist in.”
The whole interview is interesting and we recommend you to give it a read if you’re interested in the genre and the game. Hero Concept is also looking for talented people to aid them in coloring characters. You can reach the team at [email protected].
