iOS 16, iPadOS 16, Metal 3 API, and many more were introduced to users at WWDC 2022. Apple announced three new updates that interest users and players are on the horizon with its event.
iOS 16 update introduced
iOS 16 comes with many innovations. Lock screen notifications will be positioned differently, as they prevent users from seeing the wallpaper. In addition, you can now edit the last messages sent via iMessage, cancel the sending process and mark them as unread.
Other Apple subscription services, including Apple Arcade subscriptions, will allow family sharing and increase parental controls on games.
Metal 3 for gamers
The new Metal 3, the Apple version of Nvidia DLSS and AMD FidelityFX, which will include the MetalFX Upscaling API and Fast resource loading API duo, has been announced for Mac and iPadOS 16. Additionally, the Background download API will be deployed for iPadOS 16 to support larger titles.
Apple added the Resident Evil Village example to the presentation to fully introduce the technology. Also, a demo of No Man’s Sky running on a MacBook Pro M1 was shown to users.
Apple also introduced the M2 chip, providing 25 percent higher graphics performance and 2.3 times higher power performance than the M1. The M2 will first appear on the new MacBook Air. It is among the plans to bring the M1 chip to the next generation of mobile devices.
