According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Sony is working on a Days Gone movie now and the movie adaptation will see Outlander’s Sam Heughan as the lead character, Deacon St. John.

This won’t be the first time a PlayStation exclusive finds its way to the silver screen, nor will be the last, apparently. Sony PlayStation Productions already released an Uncharted movie which made a little over $400 million worldwide and the studio also greenlit The Last of Us TV series with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey taking the lead roles. Per several reliable reports, the studio wants to turn more PS exclusives into motion pictures in the near future.

According to Deadline’s piece, Oscar-nominated Sheldon Turner is tasked with writing the script for the Days Gone movie adaptation. Turner, alongside Jennifer Klein, will be producing the movie through their production company, Vendetta Productions. Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan will be the representing producers for the Sony side.

Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro says the movie adaptation of Days Gone will be a “love ballad to motorcycle movies” which wouldn’t be an odd choice of style, considering how Deacon is a seasoned biker and the gameplay of Days Gone is heavily reliant on biking across Oregon, avoiding dangers of all kinds.

Sony explores new markets

Sony PlayStation titles lined up

Sony and PlayStation have been exploring new markets for their IPs for some time now. A little over two years ago, the gaming giant launched Horizon Zero Dawn on PC. Following this release, Days Gone, God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man found their way to PC as well. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection is expected to arrive on PC before the year closes.

The gaming entity even launched a new webpage dubbed PlayStation Games on PC to help keep tracking games easier for fans. Sony is expecting to generate about $300 million from PC game sales this year. Earlier this month, Marvel’s Spider-man launched on PC and became the second biggest launch for PlayStation on Steam, and nearly dethroned God of War on the platform.

Alongside PC gaming and motion pictures, Sony also wants to explore the mobile gaming market, and the gaming giant is preparing for an aggressive strategy to bring its popular titles to mobile soon.

Days Gone is a survival game set in Oregon, following a pandemic that turned a large portion of humanity into zombies. The story takes place two years after the pandemic and has the players control Deacon St. John, a biker and a bounty hunter.
