Royal Match won’t surrender the lead to Candy Crush

Royal Match by the Turkish developer Dream Games first rattled Candy Crush’s throne in July. The game surpassed Candy Crush both in revenue and downloads, and it’s about to end the year at the top rank.

For a long time, Candy Crush has been the top puzzle game, but in July, its closest rival and follower surpassed it both in revenue and downloads, dethroning the long-time king for the first time ever. Anyone who’s interested in the details of the two rivals can read, “Will King Robert and Richard conquer the world?” The success of Royal Match was neither a coincidence nor a one-time success. Royal Match hasn’t surrendered the top to its rival since July, and it’s close to finishing the year ranked at the top. AppMagic data confirms this.

Royal Match not only tops Candy Crush according to revenue and downloads, but its revenue per download since July is also roughly 33% higher than Candy Crush since July. Which means it’s not only more popular but also more profitable.

While it’s about to finish the year at the top, Royal Match proves that its success is sustainable and consistent. Now the question remains: will Dream games be able to replicate the success of Royal Match with Royal Kingdom?
