Samsung has recently revealed their vision of the future of their Smart TVs. Samsung’s 2022 Smart TVs will have a new “Smart Hub” that supports video chatting, the new Gaming Hub, and NFTs. With their announcement, they check themselves into the future where playing games and NFT’s is an undeniable part of our daily lives.
The most notable addition to their new TVs — for gamers, of course— will be their Samsung Game Hub. This is their take on game streaming platforms, allowing game streaming providers to transport their library to the TV instantly, search and purchase games, browse the titles and play the game they want from the hub. Yesterday, Samsung announced that they are working with NVIDIA GeForce NOW, Google Stadia, and Utomik for their hub. More partnerships should be expected in the future.
Samsung wants to incentivize players to buy and play games within the Samsung Gaming Hub. The company believes that their TV’s and their new target audience, gamers are a good pair. The plan is to provide the comfort and fun of owning a console without making their customers buy a console. It will be all on their TVs.
Samsung Smart Hub supports NFTs
Another addition to Smart Hub is its support for NFTs. The platform will offer an app that allows users to discover, purchase and trade their NFTs on Samsung’s MICRO LED, Neo QLED, and The Frame TV models later this year. Being the “world’s first TV screen-based NFT explorer and marketplace aggregator,” Samsung believes there is a potential on NFT markets: “With demand for NFTs on the rise, the need for a solution to today’s fragmented viewing and purchasing landscape has never been greater,” they stated in a press release.
With a similar attitude to Gaming Hub, Samsung aims to create a comprehensive NFT space, including a showcase of the NFT art, the recommendation of other NFT’s according to the user purchases and searches as well as the knowledge about the history of NFT’s and further information about blockchain metadata. Samsung will also give the user the freedom to adjust display settings of NFTs “to the creator’s preset values, so you can have peace of mind that your work looks impeccable, with true-to-the-original image quality.”
With this move, Samsung becomes the first in their industry to acknowledge and support NTFs in such a noticeable way. We will see if this move fuels many more or not in the upcoming days.
