Who doesn’t like the Railroad Tycoon series? Regardless of your age, we can safely say that they are in the minority. The Railroad Tycoon series, whose first game was created by the legendary game designer Sid Meier years ago and reached cult status with the second game, led Sid Meier to return to the genre with Sid Meier’s Railroads! in 2006.

But how do we remember this game? For hardcore fans of the Railroad Tycoon series, it was definitely not a deep, satisfying game! The structure of the game was much simplified and a “toon” style art approach was adopted in map and unit designs. Also, the small size of the maps made the railroad industry you built look like a “model railroad diorama” rather than a “realistic” one.
Of course, after 16 years, thanks to more accessible gameplay, toon-style graphics, and a “trains for everyone” mentality, it looks like someone went back to Sid Meier’s Railroads! and realized how great it could be for today’s mobile devices.
Released last week for Android and iOS, the game is published by Feral Interactive and features more than 40 locomotives and a 200-year history of railroading. The game features real locations, multiple scenarios and game modes.
By the way, the game currently doesn’t work on Huawei phones, even with the ones with Google. You can check the list published by Feral Interactive for this. Apart from that, the game is available for $13 or €15.
