The Turkish video game giant TaleWorlds announced that the highly anticipated console version of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord will be playable at Gamescom 2022. The console demo will be available to the media members attending the event. Regular visitors will also get a chance to experience the game on consoles at Bannerlord’s public booth.

The game combines action, RPG, and strategy in a sandbox world and allows players to create their own epic stories in the fictional —but highly inspired by real history— continent, Calradia. Ankara-based video game studio launched the game as an early access title on Steam back in March 2020, and it has seen multiple major content updates since then.
The demo at Gamescom 2022 will also mark Bannerlord’s first showing of its anticipated console version as the full release approaches.
The predecessor, Mount & Blade: Warband, followed a similar path back when it was first released in 2010. The game was initially launched on only PC, and about six years later, in 2016, it was launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well. However, Warband’s console release came as an afterthought, meanwhile, Bannerlord has been under development with consoles in mind.
Given how modding is a key element in TaleWorlds’ Mount & Blade series, it will be interesting to see how the console version of Bannerlord will perform and to what extent this version will support player-made content.
Gamescom 2022 will run from Tuesday, August 23 to Sunday, August 28, and will take place in Cologne, Germany.
