Unico Studio, one of the successful Turkish mobile game studios of Silicon Valley, announced that they will acquire Funlab Games for $5.6 million as of today. As stated by the company, it is the first acquisition made by Unico Studio.
Funlab Games is a studio that stands out with its word and puzzle games. Funlab Games, the experienced team behind Word City, Kelime Gezmece, 248: Connect Dots and Numbers, and many more successful games, will work on Unico Studio’s new word game project.
Founded in 2018, Unico Studio currently has more than 25 games in its portfolio, including Brain Test, Sqube Darkness, Life Choices, and Word Pearls: Word Games. With this acquisition agreement, the company clearly states that it aims to expand and grow in the mobile game industry by adding Funlab Games games to its portfolio.
Unico Studio Co-Founder Erk Uzun expressed the following about the agreement:
“The agreement we made will be our first investment in this field and we aim to make more investments in the future. With the Funlab team and its games joining Unico, we will have completed an important step in terms of our growth strategy.”
In 2021, the industry that received the most investment in Turkey was the game industry with 266 million dollars. In the first days of 2022, the investments and acquisitions of Turkish game companies have already started to be talked about around the world. Unico Studio’s acquisition of Funlab Games is one of the important agreements added to this list.
