The Czech video game developer Warhorse Studios is bringing its critically acclaimed game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, to the real-life top-down gaming space. The company launched a crowdfunding campaign for Kingdom Come: Deliverance The Board Game and the initial goal of funding was reached in less than an hour and a half (1 hour 28 minutes, to be more specific). The funding campaign was pushed live on Gamefund, and at the time of writing, it has over 1,241 backers and raised a little over €201,000 euros.
Warhorse is partnering up with another Czech company, Boardcubator, to bring its open-world RPG to the in-person board gaming market. According to the official press release, some characters and locations of the video game will be present in the board version as well, however, the board game will have a self-contained story. Both games will share the same fictional —but heavily inspired by real history— universe.
The game will be published in English, Czech, Polish, German and French; all versions will be fully localized, including printed components, the mobile app, and its contents. No words on supporting other languages on the crowdfunding page, but depending on the interest, Warhorse may further support other languages as the digital version of the game does.
Warhorse says, just like the digital game, the board game will also focus on historical authenticity and storytelling while offering players an immersive narrative and a living, breathing world. A mobile app will be provided to help the Dungeon Master (DM) keep track of everything that’s happening during the gameplay. There are more than 210 items, 108 perks, 50 unique NPCs, and four playable characters in the board game.
