Today, Apple announced the best apps and games of 2020. This year, App Store Best of 2020 winners are 15 apps and games that prove essential to make our life easier, healthier and more social. These are the apps and games that helped us when we start spending more and more time at our homes.
To give an example; Wakeout!, home workout app won iPhone App of the Year, while Zoom is the iPad App of the Year.
As in previous years, App Store editors made choices based on factors such as high quality, creative design, usability, and innovative technology.
In the game category; Genshin Impact, which is the Best Game of 2020 in the Play Store, was also chosen iPhone Game of the Year by the Apple team. Legends of Runeterra on iPad; Disco Elysium on Mac; Dandara Trials of Fear on Apple TV; and became Sneaky Sasquatch at Apple Arcade.
“This year, more than ever before, some of our most creative and connected moments happened in apps. This was thanks to the amazing work of developers who introduced fresh, helpful app experiences throughout the year,” said Phil Schiller, Apple Fellow, in a statement. “Around the world, we saw remarkable efforts from so many developers, and these Best of 2020 winners are 15 outstanding examples of that innovation.”
Also, this year’s “Best of” winners will receive a physical award for the first time. Created from 100% recycled aluminum, the award will feature the App Store logo and the winner’s name.
When it comes to the most downloaded apps by users, predictably, applications like Zoom and Gmail occupy the top of the list.
Whether it’s facilitating distance learning through Zoom, creating daily routines with Fantastical or getting a comfortable sleep with Endel, the App Store Best of 2020 winners have helped us live quality time at home.
