Sky Mavis, the developer of the popular NFT game Axie Infinity, has raised approximately $150 million in Series B funding at a $3 billion valuation. Sources close to the news of the investment state that Andreessen Horowitz led the funding round.
According to data quoted by DappRadar, in September the popular NFT game Axie Infinity hit a $2 billion milestone in all-time sales. The game made 64,933.71 ethereum in September, worth $220.32 million. This represents a year-on-year growth of about 3,000 times.
Having completed its $7.5 million Series A round on May 11, 2021, Sky Mavis also raised a $1.5 million initial round investment from Animoca Brands in November 2019.
According to DappRadar data, as of September, there are over 615,000 people trading NFTs on Axie Infinity, and these people are said to have bought or sold Axie Infinity NFTs to date, with a total of 4.88 million transactions. This means that the average transaction price of Axie Infinity NFTs is $420.
Axie Infinity’s AXS token also appears to have reached a record high on Monday, after it recently announced that it will distribute over $60 million in tokens to its early adopters, while also launching its staking capabilities.
