Bandai Namco announced its financial results for the nine months ended December 31, 2021, with revenue of $5.4 billion, up 15.5 percent yearly. The firm’s operating profit increased by 26.4% year on year to $799 million.
Net sales in the Network Entertainment segment, which includes the gaming segment, increased 9.5% year-on-year to $2.1 billion. In comparison, operating profit in the same segment was around $3.2 billion, up 7.9% year-on-year.
The company released 42 new games in Japan during the fiscal period; 36 games in the Americas and 39 games in Europe sold three million, 15 million, and 18 million copies. With recurring releases in multiple regions, sales of 36 million units were achieved thanks to 49 new product launches.
The majority of Bandai Namco’s combined revenue for the period also came from Japan; 459.2 billion yen ($3.9 billion) in income was generated in Japan alone, accounting for 73% of all revenues.
Looking ahead, the company forecasts revenue of $6.8 billion, up 9.3% year on year. In addition, operating profit is expected to be $ 860 million, up 13% compared to the previous year.
