MetaKing Studios has raised $15 million in a startup funding round to develop the blockchain-based MMO strategy game Blocklords.
Makers Fund and Bitkraft Ventures managed the investment tour, in which companies such as Delphi Digital, Animoca Brands, Shima Capital, WW Ventures, Spartan Group, and Huobi Ventures participated. MetaKing Studios will use the funding to accelerate the development of the game, which was released in early access this year.
Founded by executives David Johansson and Nicky Li, with decades of expertise in developing free games, MetaKings Studio comprises more than 100 artists, designers, and developers from studios including Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Paradox Interactive, and Creative.
MetaKing Studios CEO David Johansson made the following statements in his statement;

Bitkraft Associate Jamie Wallace added;

MetaKing Studios has already built a community of players following Blocklords. Over 10,000 active community users eagerly create content and designs with the MetaKing Studios development team to anticipate the game’s imminent release.

Blocklords have a player-driven economy that will quickly scale as more players join the massive online world. As part of this experience, players will be able to own Hero characters and continue their lineage through heirs through the game’s Dynasty system, populating the world and creating their unique heritage and legacies.
