CD Projekt Red announced its revenue from game sales throughout 2021. The Poland-based developer generated consolidated sales revenue of PLN 888 million ($207 million) for the year.
According to the report, the financial revenues of the world-famous developer decreased by 63% year on year. It has been announced that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold a total of 18 million copies to date. In the previous fiscal period, CD Projekt Red’s revenues were announced as approximately $562 million. In its financial reports for 2019, the company reported revenue of $121.7 million.
Overall, CD Projekt Red continues to grow, although the company’s revenues have decreased compared to last year. The problems and controversies brought about by Cyberpunk 2077 seem to have affected the company’s revenues. Because Witcher games, which are much older than Cyberpunk, sold 65 million copies in total in the same period.
The Witcher game series, especially The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, brought CD Projekt Red to the top. Witcher games still make up a significant portion of the company’s revenues today. Cyberpunk 2077, on the other hand, came out with many problems and could not fully meet the expectations of CD Projekt Red fans. Many lawsuits were filed against the company and long legal processes began. All of these had a significant impact on the company’s revenues.
