CD Projekt Red has announced Phantom Liberty DLC, an expansion pack for the controversial title Cyberpunk 2077. Reportedly, the DLC will not be launched on older generation consoles such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The company has stated that this will be the only expansion Cyberpunk will receive for the time being.

The official launch in 2020 had seen a myriad of bugs, errors, and crashes throughout all platforms. The older-gen consoles, though, topped the charts in problems caused by Cyberpunk 2077, as gamers even had issues loading up the game.
Most of the issues were fixed by updates and patches. Still, CD Projekt Red’s decision not to launch Phantom Liberty on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One might derive from the fact that the company simply can’t handle more problems regarding Cyberpunk 2077.
The company has also announced that patch 1.6 will be the last big update for older generation consoles, further solidifying the fact that Cyberpunk is moving away from its old-gen customers.
This decision received mixed feedback from the community, as some users believe that moving on to the next gen is for the best. It also makes everyone question whether the game should’ve been launched on the older generation consoles in the first place.
CD Projekt Red promoted the game with these sentences on the official Cyberpunk 2077 website:
“Get ready for Phantom Liberty — a spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 set in an all-new district of Night City. Coming in 2023 to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Stadia.”
The main game is loved by many players, especially after the heroic efforts of the dev team to make the game playable again. Cyberpunk 2077 had huge expectations during its first launch period, and it’s safe to say that the Phantom Liberty DLC will be no different.
