Devil May Cry 5, Capcom’s latest installation in the franchise, has reached 6 million copies sold worldwide. The announcement was made on Devil May Cry’s official Twitter page.

The game has received nothing but praise since its launch back in 2019, and this milestone is not surprising, considering the title’s success. Devil May Cry 5 has a whopping 95% positive review rate in nearly 55,000 players on Steam. The recent reviews are even more impressive, with 97% of them in favor of the game in the past 30 days.
Capcom took a long pause between the series’ fourth and fifth titles (11 years), causing hardcore fans to doubt whether there was a future for Devil May Cry. The action game brought back favorite characters like Dante, Vergil, and Nero, while new and exciting names entered the cast, with the likes of Nico and the mysterious V.
The game’s predecessor, Devil May Cry 4, had sold 3 million copies worldwide and had the lead as the installment with the most copies sold for a while. A special edition for Devil May Cry 5 was launched in 2020 for the Xbox Series X, Series S, and PlayStation 5.
Hideaki Itsuno, director of the Devil May Cry (since the third installment) and Dragon’s Dogma series, is working on Dragon’s Dogma 2 right now, as was confirmed by Capcom last month. Fans will likely have to wait a couple more years to get the sixth title in the Devil May Cry saga.
