Analytical service AppMagic has calculated that mobile gamers worldwide have left over 3 billion dollars in games from the Turkish company Dream Games. 99% of the spending was on Royal Match and less than 1% on Royal Kingdom, which is in softlunch.
Royal Match’s box office revenue increased by 84% last year, while many other major match-3 games experienced a decline in revenue. For instance, Homescapes’ box office revenue decreased by 13%, and Candy Crush Saga’s revenue decreased by 11%. Since July 2023, Royal Match has consistently generated higher monthly revenue than Candy Crush Saga.
According to analysts, Royal Match has grown revenue well thanks to the competent use of LiveOps, collaborations with celebrities, and aggressive advertising. $3 billion — this is the net spending of users before Dream Games paid commissions to mobile stores and taxes. If you subtract them, the amount drops to $1.84 billion.
Looking at the Match-3 market, we can see that Royal Match has been a big success. It overcame high entry barriers, became one of the top apps, and surpassed the long-time market leader through a comprehensive marketing strategy. However, Royal Match and other second-tier games have reached a plateau in the market, and even the top-tier games have experienced a slight decline. Despite this, new entrants targeting non-traditional audiences still need to catch up to the leading titles in the genre.
