Google announced the Best of 2020 awards today. The best apps have been chosen by both editors and Google Play users. When making the selection, Google Play’s editorial team looked at considerations such as quality, high user ratings, and unique use cases.
Loóna: Bedtime Calm & Relax was The Best App of 2020. Loóna’s selection by Google Play team as the best app reveals how stressful 2020 has been for many users.
In addition to Loóna, Google Play editors named Genshin Impact as the best game of the year. Genshin Impact, MiHoYo’s first open world game, draws attention as a game in which gacha monetization method is used to acquire new characters, weapons and features.
The cultural impact of Genshin Impact had to be celebrated, the team said.
“From a stunning open-world design to a unique combat system, Genshin Impact gave people a new experience on more than one level.”
Besides, Google Play users chose Dream League Soccer 2021 as the best game of the year.
Another app chosen by users was Disney +, which won User’s Choice award for Best App. With new shows like “The Mandalorian”, it has attracted attention not only from children but also from adults.
The Play Store has also awarded various sub-genres such as the best competitive games, best indies and best gameplay.
