Finland-based Sulake, a subsidiary of Azerion Group, announced that it would launch blockchain-based Web3 integration this year. Habbo X will be launched as the 10th Habbo hotel, where players can purchase NFT-enabled rooms and create a new community in this hotel.
Habbo last opened Habbo Turkey hotel in 2012. This hotel was intended to serve Turkish-speaking communities. In early 2022, Azerion announced that it would integrate NFTs into Habbo. Habbo X will soon open as a metaverse hotel accordingly.
Sulake CEO Valtteri Karu says:
“Habbo has always been at the forefront of creating virtual communities for social gamers and creators, and we want to spearhead this with the adoption of the new blockchain technologies. Our goal is to keep Habbo as a social pioneer of the endless possibilities available in the Web 3.0 metaverse.”
Habbo operates almost all over the world. The platform has approximately 850 thousand users in 115 countries. Habbo was founded in 1999, Sulake was founded in 2000, and Azerion acquired both in 2020.
Jurriaan van Teunenbroek, Azerion’s Vice President of Games and Content, said in a statement:
“The launch of Habbo X will come as a result of our efforts to introduce new and existing Habbo residents to the innovative features made possible due to Web 3.0 technology. With this new technology, we can reward our Habbo players and content creators in a way that was not possible before.”
